before haircut scene:

• Tomorrow is Christmas and she has no money to buy her husband a gift.
• She cries
• She pulls her hair down

During

• She heads to the hair shop 
• She heads up the stairs
• She asks the madame if she will buy her hair
• Madame agrees

After

• She searches for the perfect gift
• She buys the gold chain
• Jim sees her gift and her sacrifice for it and tells her to put it away
• Jim reveals he sold the watch.
